Microsoft Edge Implements Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention Rules

Microsoft Edge has recently announced that it is implementing Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention to streamline any websites’ functioning. Its new version of Edge will have Safari’s Storage Access API to allow third-party widgets on any site to operate correctly.

Simply put, this support implies embedded third-party widgets, similar to Facebook and YouTube, which would function regardless of TLS in Chromium-based browsers.

Google Chrome, Edge, and Firefox adhere to the SameSite regulations requiring secure https for the third-party cookies.  With user permission, ITP will let third-party cookie access over the standard HTTP. It is uncertain whether Chrome and Chromium will follow suit; however, Edge demonstrates how it can be implemented.
