    The latest report from eMarketer has revealed that over half of marketers will use LinkedIn for marketing and advertising purposes by 2021.

    According to eMarketer, 50.3% of companies will use LinkedIn for Marketing for the majority of its marketing and advertising initiatives by 2021. In 2020, nearly half of the enterprises (49.6%) with more than 100 employees will use the professional social media platform. eMarketer has not included companies that use LinkedIn strictly for recruiting in its latest predictions.

    The report titled “Engaging Professional Audiences on LinkedIn How Brands Can Unlock First-Party Data and Connections” reveals that B2B strategies on LinkedIn are more at the forefront as compared to B2C as for over the years. This is mainly because LinkedIn has been the preferred social media platform for B2B companies aiming to reach a wider professional audience. In recent times, LinkedIn has introduced an array of features to target this audience based on some of the top B2B audience attributes, including job title, education, seniority, industry, and company.

    eMarketer principal analyst, Jillian Ryan stated in the report that more business-to-consumers organizations are using LinkedIn as compared to the past couple of years; however, LinkedIn doesn’t work for all B2Cs. Marketers are successful in using LinkedIn to capture professional audiences at a different stage of the marketing funnel as the majority of brands are leveraging multiple social media platforms. The platform has first-party data on a professional audience and unique B2B targeting capabilities that enable engagement possible for business decision-makers. The report also states that there will be an increase in the usage of the platform as a marketing tool in the coming years.
